Garrett Exner is a Special Operations Officer currently serving as a counterterrorism policy advisor for the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low Intensity Conflict. He currently works as the lead for CT Policy on Afghanistan and Pakistan advising and preparing senior DoD Leadership for interagency meetings and congressional engagements. He previously served in Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC) as a Team Commander, Executive Officer, and Deputy Operations Officer through multiple deployments to North and East Africa as well as three deployments with conventional forces to Iraq and the South Pacific. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from The University of the Incarnate Word.
