Matthew Zweig is a Senior Fellow at FDD.  Matt worked for the House Foreign Affairs Committee from 2001 through 2018, most recently served as Senior Professional Staff.  In his capacity on the Committee, Matt was responsible for sanctions and illicit finance policy.  In this capacity, Matt managed the successful negotiation of multiple pieces of legislation including the North Korean Policy and Sanctions Enforcement Act of 2016 (including 2017 revisions); the Hizballah International Financing Prevention Act of 2015 (including 2018 revisions); and the Iran Threat Reduction and Syria Human Rights Act of 2012.  Matt also managed negotiations regarding multiple foreign policy provisions within successive National Defense Authorization Act reauthorizations.  Matt served in the US Army Reserve from 2003 to 2011, and was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.  Matt holds a BA in History from the College of Charleston, an MA from the University of London King’s College, and an Executive MBA from George Mason University.
